We have some overdue but exciting news: Catalyst, the magazine we redesigned for Pratt Institute’s Design Management Program, was featured by HP’s MagCloud at SXSW! MagCloud showcased the magazine as a standout among the publications it produces, and it was an honor to have our work featured at such a high-profile event.
Offering case studies and feature articles, Catalyst Strategic Design Review explains design strategies for an audience of corporate decision-makers who have an influence on design. It’s mission is “to stimulate thinking and encourage conversation about the role of strategic design in defining and developing an economically, socially, and environmentally sustainable future.” We were thrilled when the Catalyst team came to us to help them re-envision their publication.
Our redesign gave the magazine a clear and consistent visual architecture, creating a sophisticated look and feel. As Adam Zoltowski, the magazine’s Executive Editor, said, “Li’l Robin’s work has breathed new life into the Catalyst brand, helped us refine our design process, and brought the magazine to a new level of professionalism.”
Catalyst’s modern appearance is matched by its cutting-edge production method… Catalyst is printed “on-demand” when readers purchase issues through the MagCloud website. This web-based service is a revolutionary development for small publishers, because it allows them to reach audiences while avoiding significant up-front costs traditionally associated with print publications. MagCloud was recently profiled in the article “Bold Ideas Inspire New Life for Magazines” by The New York Times about the transformation of the magazine industry.
